Rattler’s on the Right

Zealous young lady caused

fire to burn out of bounds

it spread to the forest

already cut to the ground

looking for help to extinguish

we went cross country on foot

till the ground moved on the right

had to stop and take a look…

Turned in a half circle

to give warning to my mate,

When the Rattler on the Right

sank fangs in my arm….twas fate

from the camp on the hill

came help from the “unknown,”

and in hours…Three

the Threat was all gone.

On the look out, heed the warning

Camouflaged Chrome

Working hard through the night

diffusing hostile situations

when what should appear

but a camouflaged convoy

hauling military gear and

chrome bicycles built for two,

when out of the blue…

“Alice” slipped under the fence

oh noooo, now what to do?

oh well, even heavy burdens

have solutions….

anger surfacing now

can’t keep spirits

under control.

stand out the way!

walking past the window,

as you hold back the dogs…

black dogs, small dogs,

big dogs, watch dogs,

Switchbacks

yeah, so I was on the trail again

where so many before me had walked

and even more were to follow

after my passing this way.

But hold on there a minute,

what’s this…..????

Who is this person telling me

I needed to buy death insurance

…..for my Horse?

I’m being told that to take my horse

beyond this point, means certain death,

for no horse had survived what was to come.

So I said, “Well now, just hang on there a sec Mr.,

While I check this situation out up ahead.”

And I had to lean forward to see

what was up ahead on the path,

Cause you know how deceptive some

landscapes can be,

hiding canyons and valleys and things…

And sure enough, up ahead was a steep

downhill path to go, so steep that horses

lost their footing, slipped, fell and died.

But, what was that to the right of the trail?

It was much room to travel safely down

if one were to switchback….

but none before me had, I’m wondering why?

So I declined the offer for Horse insurance,

took my place behind the woman

already walking on the ancient

and well worn path before me

and decided when I got to that place,

if I had to, I’d blaze a new switchback trail

for my horse and others….

…but I woke up….

Whirlwinds, Bark n Things

iisten and understand if you can…

The Whirlwind descended on the horizon

Over there on the Hill

People following me to shelter

enough room for all

I could hear the sirens wailing

went out to see what was there,

the White Tornado still loomed,

though it was not traveling

but was stationary on the Hill

and it was taking root there

growing arms and legs

eyes of fire and skin of bark

do not fear, you can get around it

woe to the people…

Being told there are more assignments…

Over there, in that strange room

The one with all the windows,

Yet it had a feel of doom n gloom

The stranger said “no, there’s more”

as I thought all the work had been done

in that stack over there, he pointed

The black book said number 1

On the outside it all looked normal

Opened it up and took a look inside

and the maps said Costa Rica

now I was baffled and mystified.

The Pope and the Lillie’s Fare

The Pope and the Lillie’s Fair

Down the dirt road we flew

as unfamiliar territory grew.

Up ahead a grove of trees

time will tell what we’ll see.

People in chairs all in a row

divided on both sides of the road

Under the canopy of the sky

my thoughts searched reasons why.

Slowing down to a stop, cautious now,

must fix the object, but how?

The stares from the crowd….not good,

we didn’t fit in, we are misunderstood.

Mission accomplished, moving forward again

when from the far right, the Pope entered in

with his cardinals following, not far behind,

Their stabbing glares proved they’re not blind.

Keep moving ahead now, almost out of time

while turning around and looking behind

I saw her face amongst the crowd

puzzled face, thoughts were loud

but she smiled as I put her mind to rest

when I gave seasonal greetings in jest.

And I saw, placed in the road with great care

Flowers in the Sunshine and Lillie’s fare.

And Then…There was Silence…

And the Earth said,
to the Ripening Moon,
“Can you help me?
I fear I’m doomed.”

And the Moon said,
to the Shining Sun,
“Can you help earth?
She is coming undone.”

And the Sun said,
to the gathering Stars,
“Can you help us?
we’re being destroyed by wars.”

And the Stars answered,
by sending their Tears,
and Spirit Warriors,
to calm their fears.

and then….
there was silence.

Iya and the Goldfish

Iya and the Gold Fish

I was working,

like I always do,

turned to look

behind my back

and who do you think

was standing there,

but Iya and his

child like stare.

I said “Wait here,

till I come back,

I’ll see if I can find

a place for you

to hit the sack.”

So I went out

and what did I see?

the Gold Fish

stuck between

Icebergs three

but the Gold Fish fought

and freed himself

threw the icebergs out

as well as himself!

Then I found a room

where the Three Men reside

but when I went back to tell Iya,

my, OH MY,

the giant had grown

in Giant strides!

So I turned to look

at the room again

then back at Iya’s childlike grin

and knew he had outgrown his time

Iya’s mind will never mature

nothing more I can do

so,

I’m outta here….
